Walkers Shortbread

After the opening of Walkers Shortbread’s second factory in Elgin, the Walker family decided that they needed some form of link between their new factory and the headquarters based in Aberlour. The Walker family were finding difficulties travelling daily between their two factories to check on the quality of their production.

Walkers approached Insight (UK) in 2002 to see if we could assist with this problem. We at Insight decided that the best way to link the factories was to set up a Video Over IP system.

We installed fourteen cameras (dome and static) throughout the Elgin factory, in various locations, and linked them via the Internet so that the directors at the Aberlour factory could get a clear and concise live shot of what was happening at Elgin.

Through this system they could not only establish the general happenings in the factory, any health, safety and security issues, but also gauge the quality (colour and shape) of their shortbread biscuits.

This is just one of the many success stories regarding the benefits of using CCTV in conjunction with Video Over IP systems.
