Source tagging is the most modern form of tagging with over 25,000
companies across the world investing in it. Unlike traditional methods,
where employees manually place and remove tags, source tagging is
the application of the anti-theft Electronic Article Surveillance
(EAS) labels into products or packaging throughout the manufacturing
or packaging process. Therefore, all items arriving at the retailer
are already protected at the point of sale. This allows sales staff
to spend more time selling on the shop floor and improves checkout
efficiency. Such embedded tags not only protect from shoplifting
but also internal theft.
Source tagging is the way forward for all retailers. Products arrive
in store with a live security tag already applied in a covert manner,
normally behind the back label. Consumers are totally unaware of
the tags presence plus they do not detract from the look of the
product from the marketing side of things.
European retailers have benefited dramatically from this process
and are starting to work directly with our partners to develop more
efficient routes of supply and forecasting for the future supply
of these products.
Many different markets worldwide now use source tagging from food
to fashion, electronic equipment to tools, and perfume to whisky
bottles. The labels can be placed on to a variety of merchandise
whether they are woven, printed or price tickets.
At Insight, our largest market is currently is the supply and development
of security tagging labels to the distillers and the DIY industry
who in turn provide source protected goods to all of the worlds
major markets.
